Heather S Newby
Licensed Professional Counselor
Hi. I'm glad you're here. Whether you're looking for individual therapy or discernment counseling to clarify the future of a relationship, my goal is to help you understand your patterns, enhance your clarity, and help you move forward with purpose. I specialize in attachment-informed counseling and provide guidance for adults facing complex relationships, unresolved trauma, and significant life changes.
About Heather
Attachment-informed therapist supporting adults navigating complex relationships, unresolved trauma, and decisions about whether to stay, separate, or move forward differently.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas (License #69824), providing attachment-informed therapy and discernment counseling for adults navigating complex relationships and life transitions.

My work is grounded in the understanding that our early experiences and relationships shape how we move through the world, how we connect, how we respond under stress, and how we make meaning of our lives. At the same time, those patterns are not fixed. With the right support, they can be understood, softened, and changed.

Like many people, I come to this work not only through training, but through lived experience. Growing up in a complex family system, navigating loss, and spending many years in the realities of adult relationships have all informed how I show up as a therapist. These experiences allow me to meet clients with both empathy and honesty, while maintaining a grounded, steady presence.

In our work together, my priority is to create a space where you can speak openly and think more clearly about what you’re experiencing. I am engaged and responsive. I may reflect directly, challenge patterns when it’s helpful, and support you in understanding the different parts of yourself that show up in relationships. The goal is not just insight, but meaningful change.

I work primarily with adults who are:

-
Navigating complex family histories or relationship patterns
-
Processing unresolved trauma or significant life experiences
-
Facing important decisions about their relationships
-
Moving through major life transitions, including separation or divorce
In addition to individual therapy, I offer discernment counseling for couples who are uncertain about the future of their relationship. I love this work because it offers clarity and confidence in a time where everything can feel chaotic and confusing.

Our work will ultimately help you develop greater clarity, stability, and self-understanding, so you can move forward in your relationships and your life with intention.
